The Portuguese international is widely regarded as one of the finest players of his generation, alongside current Barca forward Lionel Messi, with whom he has a long-standing rivalry.
Still, if Laporta has things his way, Ronaldo and Messi could be lining up together at the Nou Camp in a highly surprising transfer deal that may already be in the works.
The 29-year-old would no doubt be an expensive signing, but it is claimed that Laporta has already held talks with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes in the last few days, with Ronaldo’s future one of the topics of discussion.
Real will surely fight hard to keep their best player at the Bernabeu, with it being extremely rare for players to move between these two La Liga rivals, though there have been some notable exceptions, including another Portuguese legend Luis Figo.
Laporta could be elected as Barcelona president in 2016, and exciting transfer deals such as these will certainly help his cause as he looks to return as being in charge of the Catalan giants.
