Danny Welbeck says he had to leave Man United for Arsenal after being played out of position
It could be an emotional game for the forward on Saturday as he faces his boyhood club for the first time since leaving for the Gunners in a £16m deal.
Welbeck came through the ranks at Old Trafford, but felt he was being played on the wing too often and finally had to leave to realise his role as a striker.
“Over the past year or so, I started to think about what’s best for me. At the time I was playing on the left wing a lot and in a 4–4-2, which is very difficult for me because I can’t make an impact on the game,” the England international was quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
