Arsene Wenger has confirmed Danny Welbeck will be in the squad for tomorrow’s crucial Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund despite the England star missing first team training this morning.

The news will come as a welcome relief to Wenger who must try and handle a glut of fresh injuries for his Arsenal stars. Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczesny are all confirmed out for Tuesday’s match.

Wenger also revealed that Wilshere will be forced to see an ankle specialist after the midfielder suffered a fresh injury against United on Saturday following a tackle from young defender Patrick McNair.

The Arsenal boss said he was reluctant to give any timescale on Wilshere’s return from injury but said he would be out for a while.

To make matters worse for Arsenal, recently returned striker Olivier Giroud is unavailable for selection after Arsenal failed to register the player for the Champions League group stages believing he wouldn’t be fit until January.

There is some good news for Arsenal fans, however, as long term absentee Laurent Koscielny returns to training after almost two months out with tendinitis of the achilles.
