Dortmund boss the favourite to take over at Anfield.
Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has emerged as a strong favourite to take over from Brendan Rodgers as manager of Liverpool, report the Mail, if the Reds do decide to dispense with the Northern Irishman after a dismal run of form that continued with a 3-0 defeat to fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford today.
Klopp is, himself, under a degree of pressure at Signal Iduna Park as Dortmund’s nightmare continued at the weekend with defeat at Hertha Berlin, a result that saw Dortmund drop back into the bottom three of the Bundesliga – although they breezed through their Champions League group ahead of Arsenal.
Rodgers, who was one of the Premier League’s finest managers last season as he led Liverpool to second place in the league, coming within touching distance of a first title for two decades, but the Reds’ form has collapsed this season after star forward Luis Suarez was sold to Barcelona.
Whilst the report suggests that there are plenty of people in the corridors of power at Anfield who believe that Rodgers has earned the chance to turn things around, there are also plenty of whispers as to who could be the man to replace him – and Jurgen Klopp is a name that crops up regularly.
