Phil Jones defends himself against those that criticise his fitness record
Jones played just his fifth match of the 2014/15 campaign on Sunday as United beat rivals Liverpool 3-0 in the league.
The England international has suffered with shin splints and a torn hamstring this term and since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 has struggled with several injuries, but the defender has hit out at his critics.
“I could stand here and list 10 players who are always out injured, and that is just the nature of football. People don’t wake up one morning and say ‘I fancy being injured today’. It’s just the way it is,” Jones was quoted by the Mirror.
