According to the source, the French international had been attracting interest from Paris Saint Germain, as well as the Gunners. Newcastle value the player at around £20m, and are attempting to put off potential buyers.
There have been enquiries from agents looking to broker deals for Paris St Germain and Arsenal but it is understood no formal approaches have been made, while talks are ongoing over a new contract for the 25-year-old.
Sissoko, who has made 23 appearances so far this term, has been one of the leading lights for Newcastle during an inconsistent campaign that has left the club 10th going into the second half of the season.
He has ambitions of playing Champions League football, but is happy with the Magpies, and looks willing to stay until at least the end of the season.
