Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be in the market for some fresh attacking talent in light of the side’s problems in front of goal recently, and has been keeping tabs on the diminutive Italian international for some time.

Arsenal had been heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old themselves, but reports in Italy are now suggesting that a move to White Heart Lane is now looking more likely after contact over a possible deal was made earlier this week.

Giovinco’s deal with the Serie A champions will expire at the end of the current season, and though he would be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club it is thought that Spurs are not keen on waiting and want to bring him on board this month.

The ‘Atomic Ant’ has been with Juventus since 2006, but has spent three of the intervening years away on loan with the likes of Parma and Empoli, and as such he has made only 127 appearances for the Turin giants throughout his career.
