Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette has been described as better than Gareth Bale and had talk of an exit shut down by his club president, reports ESPN.

The 23-year-old has been linked to Liverpool over the last month as they look to find a solution to their striking crisis. The Reds have struggled this season since the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona. With Daniel Sturridge injured, new signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have found it hard to find the net. Fabio Borini has also failed to impress when given a chance.

The Ligue 1 star already has 19 league goals to his name in the current campaign, and his displays have apparently alerted some of the continents biggest clubs to his availability.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has responded to these rumours by claiming that his player is better than Real Madrid ace Bale and that the Frenchman is priceless.

“You can’t put a figure on it,” he said.

“What’s the name of the Welshman at Real Madrid? I think Alexandre is a lot better.

“But Alexandre doesn’t have a price, so it’s pointless thinking of one.

“Today, there is no positive response to a departure for Alexandre or Nabil or any other.”
