Arsenal Boost As Replacement Signed For Defensive Midfield Target

Midfielder claimed in December he had agreed terms with an English club

Arsenal have received a significant transfer boost after Sevilla look to have signed a replacement for the Gunners defensive midfield target Grzegorz Krychowiak.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be an admirer of the Polish international, who could be on the way out of La Liga after the Spanish side near a loan move for Porto’s Lucho Gonzalez, reports Daily Mirror.

The Gunners have been monitoring the 24 year old along with a number of other targets such as Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, who’s contract situation could see the North London side yet swoop in for his signature, and Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko.

Interestingly, Krychowiak announced just last month that he had agreed terms with an English club over a move but quickly retracted his statement claiming it was a joke.

The midfielder has been with the Spanish club since last summer and was signed for just £4 million and whilst Sevilla seem keen to qualify for the Champions League, a significant offer and potentially heavy profit could yet tempt them to release their player.

Krychowiak seems an ideal candidate for an Arsenal team bereft of a robust and competent midfield enforcer. His tough tackling style and success in the air may make him the Gunners best available target.
