With John Terry and Gary Cahill forming a formidable partnership in the back four Zouma has found first-team football hard to come by under Jose Mourinho and San Siro boss Roberto Mancini can offer the Frenchman more regular action.
However, the 20-year-old has impressed when called into first-team action – most recently starting the last two games at Stamford Bridge – against Watford in the FA Cup, in which he grabbed his first senior goal, and the Premier League victory over Newcastle United.
Chelsea will therefore be reluctant to let their defender leave – with Mourinho keen to have enough resources at his disposal for the second-half of the season, especially with the 51-year-old’s men chasing four trophies.
