MLS Reject Jermain Defoe Set To Sign For Sunderland

Jermain Defoe has endured an unhappy spell in the US.

In a warning that Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard would do well to listen to, Defoe is coming back from the MLS with his tail between his legs.

The ex-Spurs man scored 11 times in 19 appearances since joining MLS side Toronto last year, but has seen his time in the US marred by fallouts with fans and arguments with club management.

US national team striker and EPL flop Jozy Altidore plus cash is moving the other way.

Although the swap has been completed, Altidore is not yet a Toronto FC player.  Altidore played for the New York Red Bulls from 2006-08, meaning he would have to go through Major League Soccer’s allocation process for re-entry into the league.
