After announcing he had Motor Neurone Disease back in 2013, former Rangers midfielder Fernando Ricksen has been receiving huge amounts of support from the footballing world.

Then on Sunday, his home for six years between 2000 and 2006, Ibrox, hosted a Ricksen tribute match in order to raise money to help battle the illness.

A packed stadium in Glasgow applauded and cheered the 38-year-old as he made his way onto the pitch to an extremely emotional reception.

Ricksen made 254 SPL appearances for the ‘Gers, and played 12 times for the Dutch national side, too.
