Southampton are resigned to losing Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin at the end of the summer whatever the outcome of their Champions League push, report the Mirror, with Ronald Koeman’s Saints eyeing up young Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie as a potential replacement for the French international.

Schneiderlin came close to a St. Mary’s exit last summer when the club were in the midst of a selling spree, but he was the one player that the club moved heaven and earth to keep, a decision that has proven right with his impressive performances in midfield for them this season.

Arsenal are known to be very keen on signing him, however, and the report suggests that Southampton are resigned to Schneiderlin moving on at the end of the season however their campaign pans out.

The Saints are set to target Clasie as their replacement for Schneiderlin, with the youngster who has been dubbed as the ‘Dutch Xavi’ being a player who is well known to Ronald Koeman after the two worked together at Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord.
