However, in what could be a blow for Spurs, Henrique Pompeo says that Martinez would love to play in Serie A.
Liverpool have also been touted as a possible destination for the Colombian after Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have flopped since their summer moves but their efforts to lure him to Anfield could be in vain.
Martinez is the top scorer at the moment in Portugal and the 28 year old is said to have his heart set on a move to Italy.
“We know that it won’t be easy, but his desire is clear — he wants to play in Serie A,” Henrique Pompeo told AreaNapoli.it
“He would be honoured to have this opportunity. He loves the Italian league and if he were to leave Porto, Serie A would be his first choice.”
He added: “He’s happy in Portugal, but at the same time he is attracted by another adventure in Europe. Let’s just wait until the end of the season to see what we can do.”
Martinez only signed a new contract with Porto in March last year and is unlikely to leave the Portuguese club until at least the summer.
Napoli, Roma and AC Milan are all believed to be eager to sign Martinez but would have to stump up a considerable fee if they wanted to land the striker, reports ESPN.
