The Blues boss is keen to strengthen his attack with Loic Remy proving only a moderate success since moving to Stamford Bridge and veteran Didier Drogba only seen as a bit-part contributor.

Ecuadorian Valencia’s buyout clause is open to Champions League sides and one imagines that the Upton Park star would jump at a move from east to west London to join the Premier League table toppers.

Mourinho is battling on multiple fronts this term and Valencia would of course be eligible to take part in Chelsea’s Champions League run and would offer a strong back-up option to first choice starter Diego Costa whilst also being able to fill wide-attacking options.

Given that Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah are both likely to leave Chelsea before the transfer window slams shut a move for the World Cup star makes a great deal of sense.
