The England international scored what will be contender for the best free-kick of the 2014/15 Premier League season with a sublime curling strike from 25-yards, yet it wasn’t enough to close the gap on Mourinho’s men.

Milner, whose contract expires in the summer, had this to say following the 1-1 draw:

“We can’t really afford too many more slip-ups, if any. Chelsea have a big lead now but it’s down to us to see how many points we can get,” the 29-year-old was quoted by the Mail Online as saying.

“We know, more than anyone, you have to keep going to the death and anything can happen, but I think we have got to be pretty faultless between now and the end of the season to get close.”

Most worrying was almost the complete absence of attacking ideas from the Citizens, and mind games or not, Manuel Pellegrini certainly has a job on his hands to keep the trophy in Manchester.
