Aston Villa manager wants star player to impress again.
Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has said he wants to get Christian Benteke back to the form that saw him linked with the world’s biggest clubs a few years ago, the Daily Mirror reports.
Speaking at his unveiling as Villa’s new manager, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss spoke about Benteke’s qualities, insisting his side need him to get firing again – though was keen to refute that his new side are far from a one-man team.
Benteke has had injury problems and dipped in form this season, but Sherwood believes he can become a target for the best teams in the world again.
“Christian is a handful and we need to get him firing again,” he said.
“He will be a big part of what we do but we’re not a one-man team.
“A couple of years ago, he was linked with the best clubs in the world and hopefully we can tap into that and he can recapture his form.”
