Is Van Gaal the right man for the Old Trafford hot-seat?
Manchester United’s big-money summer signings have come under fire this season, yet Alan Shearer questions the role that boss Louis Van Gaal is having in the poor form of his new arrivals – particularly Angel Di Maria.
Di Maria, the former Real Madrid star, has looked a shadow of his former self at Old Trafford, but Premier League legend Shearer does not believe that the poor form of the Argentine lies solely with the player himself:

“Instead, you have got to ask why he is not playing well. Is it a lack of confidence, or is the manager stifling him? Shearer wrote in The Sun.
“Is it the directive of the manager to be so rigid that he is not allowing his players the freedom to play?” the 44-year-old continued to question.
“I think so — and Di Maria looks to be suffering more than most because of it.”
The Match of the Day pundit believes Van Gaal simply isn’t allowing the winger to perform with the same poise as he did at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Shearer even said that “Van Gaal has coached all the flair and imagination out of his team.”
