Manchester United could lose David de Gea, with manager Louis van Gaal reportedly not speaking to the keeper…
Manchester United could be set to lose goalkeeper David de Gea, after the Spaniard’s supposed row with manager Louis van Gaal.
According to reports in Thursday’s press, the pair haven’t spoken in months, with Champions League holders Real Madrid waiting to pounce.
The 24-year-old’s current contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of next season, and United have so far struggled to make progress over a new deal.
De Gea has supposedly grown frustrated with receiving a lack of praise from Van Gaal, and the issue has now escalated to the point where the stopper wishes to leave.
If he does go, United will undoubtedly move quickly to replace him, and here are five candidates we think could fit the bill:
5) Asmir Begovic (Stoke City)
Has regularly been linked with a move to a ‘bigger’ club in the past, but has thus far remained loyal to Stoke. Still young in goalkeeping terms at 27, the Bosnian has been an integral part of his side’s success in the Premier League, making 151 league appearances in five years.
