The England international insists the Argentine will come good at Old Trafford, saying that great players can’t just lose their talent overnight.

“He’s a great player. You don’t lose your talent overnight. I think he will figure it out,” Rooney said.

“Hopefully he’ll get back to his best and start giving some great performances.

“You have to come to it in your own way and I am sure he will be a big player for us between now and the end of the season.”

Di Maria, 27, is United’s record signing, joining from Real Madrid last summer in a £59.7m transfer.
