Gilberto won two FA Cup’s and an invincible league title in his six years at Arsenal.
Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva has hailed the impact of fellow South American Alexis Sanchez at his old club and believes that the Chilean has all the qualities to become “a killer”.
Alexis has scored 18 goals in all competitions for the Gunners this season and despite going off the boil in recent weeks, he’s had a phenomenal start to his Arsenal career.
Speaking whilst promoting the international friendly between Chile and Brazil at the Emirates Stadium later on this month, Gilberto lavished praise on Arsenal’s main man.
“Sanchez can be a killer in front of the goal and a nightmare for defenders,” Gilberto was quotes as saying in the Mirror.
“It was important for him and the team to start his time with the club well and I really like his style. Arsene [Wenger] and the club are very careful when they want to sign a player, they don’t want to make a mistake.
“But I think they did the right thing with Sanchez and he is paying them back with his performances.”
With a vital game against Man United in the FA Cup looming, Arsenal desperately need Alexis to regain his early season form and salvage a trophy for Arsene Wenger.
