The 36-year-old featured against SC Bastia in Monaco’s 3-0 triumph on Friday evening having not been present for over a month of Ligue 1 action. He missed Monaco’s first-leg victory away at the Emirates Stadium-when the Monagesques won 3-1-and hadn’t played since February 8.

Speaking to L’Equipe ahead of the heavyweight Champions League match-up, Carvalho has guaranteed that he has no lingering fitness concerns and is ready for the vital fixture.

“I worked enormously these last two weeks to make-up for my physical issues,” he began.

“I felt good against Bastia. Frankly, I’m ready.”

Carvalho also went on to assuage fears that he may struggle to play to games in such close succession.

“I can play, the injury is over, I am fit,” he went on.

“The objective was to be ready for the day when they call me back again, not just for Arsenal. We’re here!”
