Arsene Wenger is hoping to sign a Southampton midfielder this summer, but it’s not Morgan Schneiderlin.
According to the Metro, the Gunners now want to make a move for 22 year old Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international has scored six goals this term for the Saints, and has been in fine form since Christmas – thus alerting the Arsenal boss.
While Arsenal appear to be well-stocked in the midfield, there is increasing speculation around the Emirates that Theo Walcott will be on his way out of the club this summer, as talks over a new contract continue to stall.
Mane only joined the south coast club from Red Bull Salzburg last summer, signing a four year deal after the two clubs agreed an £11.8 million deal.
He has 22 caps for Senegal, and played for his country in their ultimately unsuccessful 2012 Olympic campaign.
