Jobson became a key player for Botafogo in the final stretch of the 2009 Brazilian Championship, scoring six times in the final six games as the team completed a miraculous escape from relegation.

He then moved to Cruzeiro, but was banned for six months for doping and ultimately returned to his boyhood club. After his return, he faced several disciplinary problems and many managers refused to work with him.

Botafogo eventually ran out of patience, sending him on loan to various clubs, including Atletico MG, Bahia and Sao Caetano. However, he was never able to establish himself and went back to Botafogo in mid-2014.

At first he had to settle for a place on the bench, but after the injury of Rodrigo Goldfish he was once again given a chance in the first team and has since impressed the club management and its fans with his commitment. He is currently the team’s top scorer with six goals in the Carioca State Championship.
