Arsenal star Danny Welbeck has revealed that he had to wade through goat faeces and run from angry dogs while playing on the streets of Manchester as a kid, report the Daily Star.
While everyone will have a few stories similar to these from when they were younger, not many involve herds of goats!
The 24-year-old said: “It was mad I remember there was this man – some random guy – who used to walk past us and he had a goat, he had like a herd of goats. And they’d leave their droppings – we’d use them as pitch markings! Nah, joking!
“But they’d leave their droppings. He got a bit of abuse for that. But he had a dog as well – a little Jack Russell – and back then when you’re four or five years old they are quick.”
The striker went on to play for his home town club Manchester United, but was sold on to close rivals Arsenal in the summer. He marked his return to Old Trafford earlier this month by scoring the winner against his old side in the FA Cup quarter finals. The Gunners are also ahead of the Red Devils in the Premier League by a point in third place.
