The 32-year-old has been playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois this season, and is looking more and more likely to leave at the end of the campaign. Meanwhile, Green has been playing well for the Rs, but the team are still being tipped to be relegated come May.

The main question in this transfer would be whether the 35-year-old is willing to be a back up keeper for the final years of his career.

Chris Ramsey is thought to be looking for at least £2 million for his number one, and the Stamford Bridge outfit easily have the finances for this with rich owner Roman Abramovich pulling the strings.

This move could be nearly as weird as when the London side bought Ross Turnbull!
