Southampton are hoping to sign Chelsea veteran Petr Cech in an emergency loan deal to replace the injured Fraser Forster, reports Italian site tuttomercatoweb.
The Saints had Kelvin Davis between the sticks for their match with Everton on Saturday, but manager Ronald Koeman could well be looking for some more reliable cover until the end of the season. With Forster potentially out for a year the Dutchman could well be looking for further reinforcements in the summer.
This would be outside the transfer window, and it is unknown whether such a move would be allowed to go through with the South Coast club still having two fit goalkeepers in their squad.
23-year-old Paulo Gazzaniga was on the bench during their 1-0 loss to the Toffees.
It would also be surprising if Jose Mourinho were to allow Cech to leave in the middle of the title race, leaving him without cover for Thibaut Courtois.
