Aston Villa face a fight to keep hold of striker Christian Benteke after Italian giants AC Milan reportedly enquired about his availability.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Serie A heavyweights are keen to lure the Belgium international to the San Siro when the summer transfer window opens and have already made contact with his relegation-threatened club.
The 24-year-old missed the first two months of the season through injury and struggled to recapture the dazzling form he demonstrated at the start of his Villa career. However, he has been rejuvenated under new boss Tim Sherwood and scored a hat-trick in last night’s 3-3 draw with Queens Park Rangers.
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are also expected to make an offer for the hitman if Villa decide to cash in – a decision which is likely to hinge on their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Benteke, who has 10 goals to his name for his club this term, has two years remaining on his current contract.
