The Daily Express site Portuguese sources which claim the 27-year-old was recently scouted by Liverpool chief academy scout Julian Ward in a Premier Liga match.
Sporting are believed to want around £11 million for Patricio’s services but Liverpool have been buoyed by the belief the player is very keen on a move abroad. The Reds are now ready ready to open talks at the end of the season.
One face who wouldn’t be happy seeing the shot-stopper in the Premier League would be Jose Mourinho whose Chelsea side were left frustrated at the hands of Patricio in the Champions League group stages this season.
Despite winning 1-0 Mourinho said at the time that he couldn’t repeat his words because ‘they’d be censored’ but Patricio’s ‘great saves’ spoilt the the match for the Blues.
