Arsenal are preparing a £24m deal to land Barcelona winger Pedro in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Express. The Gunners are looking to bolster the team at the end of this season with the aim of mounting a serious challenge to the Premier League title next term.
The Express claim Arsene Wenger enquired about the availability of the Spaniard last summer, and the Frenchman is poised to return with an offer soon.
The Daily Express report that Arsenal know that they must add more talent to their squad if they are to truly challenge in all competitions, and the Barcelona forward is high on their wishlist.
Wenger is reportedly after more creativity and pace in his attack, and believes Pedro fits the bill.
The Spain international has found playing time hard to come by under boss Luis Enrique, with the 27-year-old having had his place firmly taken by new signing Luis Suarez, and his time at the Camp Nou looks to be up.
Arsenal, however, will have to fend off interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter Milan for his signature.
The Gunners could have the upper hand in transfer dealings though, with Pedro’s former Barca team-mate Alexis Sanchez having made the switch to the Emirates Stadium last summer, and enjoying an inspired debut campaign in England’s top flight.
