Liverpool have been told it will cost them £30m to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke this summer as manager Brendan Rodgers seeks to boost his options upfront.
The Reds look urgently in need of improvements in that area of the pitch after dreadful seasons from players like Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, while Daniel Sturridge has also missed large chunks of the campaign through injury.
This leaves Rodgers still in need of a replacement for Luis Suarez, who left Anfield to sign for Barcelona, and it may be that Benteke would be the ideal signing in attack.
The Belgian international has had injury problems of his own this season, but has enjoyed a fine run of form since returning to the Villa starting lineup, putting him on Liverpool’s radar for the summer, according to Goal.com.
However, the Merseyside giants will have to pay up to sign the 24-year-old, who would cost around £30m.
