In an attempt to create an exciting atmosphere, New York City FC have committed what should be a cardinal sin in football, as they sent out song sheets featuring cheesy lyrics that they want their supporters to sing during their games.
They were handed out in Monday’s 3-1 away defeat to Sounders FC.
Take a look at the tweet below of the cringey chants, including “Come on New York score a goal, it’s really very simple. Put the ball into the net and we’ll go really mental”…

We’re not sure what’s more amusing, the lyrics, or the disclaimer that reads “Songs not included on this list may still be sung during the game”…
NYCFC kicked off their first ever season in the MLS at the beginning of March, and have caught the eye with blockbuster signings David Villa and Frank Lampard.
The Chelsea legend is set to team up with his new MLS team-mates at the end of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign, where he will play alongside former Barcelona star David Villa.
However, Lampard has his work cut out, as New York City are currently third from bottom having won just six points from their first nine games.
