Manchester City are eyeing a shock move for Bayern Munich Arjen Robben once the summer transfer window opens, as they look to wrestle the Barclays Premier League crown away from Chelsea next season.
According to reports in the Metro, Robben has emerged as a £24million target for City after being alerted to the fact that the Bundesliga champions are willing to sell the 31-year-old Dutch international.
It has been a miserable campaign for Manuel Pellegrini’s side as they have failed to pose a genuine threat to Chelsea since the turn of the year when both teams were level on points with identical records at the top of the table.
But while Jose Mourinho’s side pushed on to claim the title for the first time in five seasons, City struggled with injuries to key players and eventually faded out of the race and at one point their place in the top-four looked uncertain, after losing back-to-back games against Crystal Palace and Manchester United at the start of April.
However, the Citizens have responded in great fashion and now look favorites to finish as runners up ahead of Arsenal as they require a point from their final game of the season against Southampton.
