Arsenal Cech: Gunners lead the race for Chelsea stopper according to goalkeeping coach

It was reported on Monday night [via The Telegraph] that the 33-year-old’s long-term goalkeeping coach and mentor, Christophe Lollichon, had informed French radio station RMC that the Czech Republic international wants to stay in England – and has singled Arsenal out as the top club he wishes to join.

“His family like England,” Lollichon said.

“A player is happy when his family is happy. He wants to stay in England, but I don’t know where are the discussions,” he continued.

“The Premier League is his primary objective. But it will also depends on the conditions.

“Arsenal is a top club, with a philosophy that pleases him and that is in London. It is a base for consideration.”

However, Ligue 1 champions PSG want Cech to leave behind the Premier League for a new career in France, the Telegraph claim.

Les Parisiens, according to the British tabloid, are prepared to better any deal that Arsenal are willing to offer the Stamford Bridge veteran. The newspaper state that they are readying a five-year contract, worth £150,000 per-week, to lure Cech to the Parc des Princes.

The Telegraph state that despite the Chelsea legend’s desire to stay in London to avoid uprooting his settled family, Arsenal are unlikely to match the offer that PSG are considering, and he could therefore find the Ligue 1 outfit’s deal difficult to turn down.

Cech reportedly [via Sky Sports] met with Blues officials, including owner Roman Abramovich, on Monday to discuss his wish to move from west London to north London; however, it seems his future is still some way off being decided with several clubs to choose between.

Manchester Evening News have identified that Czech legend as a potential replacement for David De Gea at Old Trafford, although the Red Devils are also considering Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris [Goal].

Jose Mourinho, according to Sky Sports, may have encouraged his goalkeeper to consider a move to Paris. The Portuguese manager, unsurprisingly, isn’t eager for the club’s no.1 to walk out at the Emirates given his form didn’t look to have been affected by his limited playing time last season.

In seven starts, Cech recorded five clean sheets – and is closing in on the all time record in England’s top flight. David James, former Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Manchester City and Portsmouth keeper, currently sits top with 170 clean sheets, while Cech, on 166, is just five away from breaking his record.
