Liverpool legend worried about INFURIATING £32.5m signing

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is worried that Christian Benteke won’t fit in at Anfield, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Sky Sports pundit admits that the 24-year-old is “devastating” on his day, but has also warned that the striker is prone to the odd poor showing and is “infuriating in equal measure.” In a more pressured situation like that with the Merseyside outfit that may be more of a problem than it was at Aston Villa.

This streaky-ness was on display last season, with the player scoring just three goals in his first 21 games. He then went on to net twelve in the next thirteen for his club. These extreme fluctuations in form may not be tolerated so much at Liverpool.

Perhaps more worryingly for Reds fans the 37-year-old has pointed out that the Belgium international may not be suited to the slick, passing style that Brendan Rodgers has put in place.

“While we’ve been impressed by how Benteke has torn teams apart,” Carragher said, “Liverpool, against whom he scored five goals in six games, have really suffered — we also know when his touch has been poor and his lack of interest has been apparent.”

However, with the forward having hit the back of the net 49 times in three campaigns for the Villans, Benteke will likely believe that these worries are unfounded.
