Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a £10.6m deal for Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout, reports from France claim.

According to L’Equipe, cited by the Express, Mauricio Pochettino is set to bid £10.6m for the midfielder, and is eager to finalise the transfer of the France Under-21 international before their opening Premier League clash with Manchester United on August 8th.

The British newspaper state that Morgan Schneiderlin – who recently signed for the Red Devils in a £25m deal [via BBC Sport] – was Spurs’ major target this summer and therefore may have forced their attentions to turn to Veretout.

Having missed out on Schneiderlin’s signature, Pochettino remains keen on bolstering his midfield – and Veretout, as stated by the Express, has emerged as the the Argentine manager’s top target.

The 22-year-old caught the eye last season after an impressive Ligue 1 tally of seven goals and six assists in 36 appearances for Nantes.
