Benzema to Arsenal deal looks close, can United stop it?
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal should be busting a gut to stop his rival Arsene Wenger bringing Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema to Arsenal this summer.
The Frenchman is one of the best strikers on the market at the moment, and United arguably need a new signing in that position more than the Gunners do.
Wenger already has Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and possibly Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez to choose from as options in that position, and look a more settled side overall after a good season last year.
United, meanwhile, have made many changes, but are still lacking in a key area after failing to replace both Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao up top.

With David de Gea sure to be on the move to Madrid this week, it is bizarre that the Red Devils are not trying to negotiate a deal for Benzema as part of the move.
The 27-year-old would be absolutely ideal in this United side, and if he ends up moving to the Emirates Stadium instead, it could make all the difference in how these two teams compete in the title race.
