Tottenham & Everton in battle to sign £10.6m wing wizard

Everton and Tottenham are set to go head to head in pursuit of highly-rated Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko, according to the Metro.

25-year-old Yarmolenko  helped his Dynamo Kiev side to a domestic title last term and finished the campaign as the leading assist-maker in the Europa League, laying on six assists as his side battled through to the quarter-finals of the competition before being beaten by Serie A side Fiorentina.

Roberto Martinez would do well to strengthen his attack as he looks to get his Toffees side back on track after a poor 2014/15 season that saw Everton finish outside the top half of the Premier League table for the first time since 2006.

The Metro state that Dynamo Kiev want a fee of £10.6m for Yarmolenko, who has represented the NSC Olimpiyskiy side since 2007.

Yarmolenko netted during Dynamo Kiev’s knock-out stage win over Everton in last season’s Europa League and is a predatory finisher, particularly in one-on-one situations, as well as a superb provider for his team-mates.

White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino saw Erik Lamela, Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon offer very little in 2014/15, and the latter duo do not appear to be part of the Argentine’s plans for the current campaign with neither player having featured in the Tottenham manager’s match-day squad in each of their opening two Premier League fixtures. Lamela, by contrast, has featured, but only as a substitute.
