Real Madrid in bid to sign Arsenal star player, Florentino Perez reveals

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed the club missed out on signing Arsenal star Patrick Vieira back in the summer of 2004.

The former Gunners captain had just won the Premier League title as part of the famous Invincibles side that went a whole season unbeaten in the English top flight.

However, he was a top target for the Spanish giants who eventually slipped away, though he left Highbury the following summer as he made the move to Juventus.

Quoted in the Daily Mirror talking about the failed David de Gea move this summer, Perez said: “We have missed out on players before, Franck Ribery and Patrick Vieira for example.”
