Liverpool star wants Barcelona transfer: Anfield side set to lose another star player

Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is reportedly keen on a move to join Barcelona according to Spanish source Sport, via Goal.com.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has become the subject of recent speculation following comments made by national team colleague Neymar, who stated he would love to play alongside Coutinho at the Nou Camp.

Coutinho has seen his £8.5m move to Anfield revive a career that was stagnating at Inter Milan and has matured into one of the best creative talents in the Premier League and is a player Liverpool would be loathe to lose.

Liverpool have struggled to prevent the departure of their best talents in recent years with both Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling’s moves to Barcelona and Man City being testaments to that fact.

The sacking of Brendan Rodgers, the man who brought Coutinho to Merseyside, may not help the club’s hopes of keeping the flair player though one wonders quite where he would fit into Luis Enrique’s starting eleven.

Enrique employs a front-three of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, this fact leading to Pedro’s move to Chelsea over the summer, and the likes of Andres Iniesta and Ivan Rakitic provide a strong creative presence behind the trio and as such Coutinho may struggle to secure a prominent role in the Barcelona side at present.
