Bayern Munich ‘desperate’ to sign Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil: Are the Bundesliga giants playing mind games?

Bayern Munich are reported to be on some sort of obsessive chase to sign Mesut Ozil, and are convinced of snapping up a player who has so far evaded them, according to the Daily Mail.

The Bundesliga giants have apparently been on the trail of the playmaker since the conclusion of the 2010 World Cup when the then 21-year-old was still on the books of fellow German giants Werder Bremen.

Bayern were thought to be amongst the frontrunners to snap him up, but the player instead opted to head to Spain and join Real Madrid.

However, following a successful spell in the Spanish capital, the 27-year-old then joined Arsenal in 2013 in a £42.5m deal that took Bayern by surprise, seeing yet another opportunity to sign the playmaker slip through the cracks.

And despite only being in North London for a year, Bayern tried to bring the Arsenal man back to Germany at the end of last season. Pep Guardiola, who is understood to be a big fan of the 27-year-old made an inquiry as to the player’s availability but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger made it clear he wouldn’t sell.
