Admittedly, Ronaldinho’s not the player he used to be. However, as this video demonstrates, the Brazil legend has still got it.
The ex-Barcelona icon was known for his flicks, tricks, flair and panache, and he gave a fresh demonstration of his enduring class in the recent testimonial of another legendary playmaker.
The occasion was a match to commemorate former Morocco international Mustapha Hadji, who was memorable for an excellent stint at Coventry City and an unforgettable wondergoal at the 1998 World Cup.
Hadji, however, wasn’t quite at the level of Ronaldinho, and the Brazilian—who was known for attempting the unthinkable and unexpected on a football pitch—was resplendent in this recent exhibition fixture.
Check out these clips; the first in which Ronny sets up a goal with a magical, visionary assist, the second in which he plays a one-two on the edge of the area, plays the ball past a defender with a dragged past before running on and finishing with aplomb.
Currently out of contract, there may be one or two sides whose interest is piqued by this sublime showing.
