CRAZY STATS! Lukaku joins Man United & Liverpool legends as youngest to score 50 EPL goals

Posted by

Romelu Lukaku scored twice for Everton in their 4-0 drubbing of Aston Villa this weekend. In doing so, however, the 23-year-old striker from Belgium scored his 50th and 51st goals of the season – bringing him into elite company of players who have scored 50 times or more by age 23.

According to OptaJoe, Lukaku is only the fifth player in Premier League history to score fifty goals in England by age 23.

The other four members of the exclusive club: Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lukaku got his big break for Anderlecht, scoring over 30 goals for the Belgian giants while he was still a teenager and earned a big contract with Chelsea in 2011. He was barely used at all at Stamford and was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion and Everton from 2012 to 2014 before signing with Everton permanently.

Everton have never finished better than fifth on the table in the history of the Premier League, but with Lukaku playing like this, perhaps that will change in the near-future.
