Manchester United “very interested” in Real Madrid star James Rodriguez

Report in Spain are claiming that Manchester United are definitely interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Colombian international is being tipped to leave the Bernabeu in the near future having fallen out of favour under Rafa Benitez this season.

And now El Chiringuito journalist Jose Luis Sanchez is claiming that United would be seriously interested in taking him off Real Madrid’s hands.

However, the Mirror reports that the 24-year-old will likely cost the Red Devils the better part of €80million, as Real will want to earn back the bulk of what they paid Monaco for his signature in 2014.

But United Chief Exec Ed Woodward is known for chasing high profile players with the hope of making the money paid back in commercial gains.

A big part of any deal will likely depend on whether Rafa Benitez remains in charge of the club for much longer, as recent reports suggest that he could be on the way out soon. If that is the case, then Rodriguez may opt to stick it out for a while longer to see if he gets more game time under whoever comes in.
