Agent of Serie A forward claims Arsenal interest but Gunners face competition from PSG

The agent of Lorenzo Insigne has claimed that his client is a target for Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian international forward has scored eight goals in 20 appearances for Napoli this season.

His representative, Antonio Ottaiano, has admitted that the interest in Insigne is flattering but has insisted that the 24-year-old is focussed on Napoli and going to Euro 2016 this summer.

Ottaiano is quoted by The Mirror as saying: “PSG and Arsenal are clubs at the top of the world and their interest is certainly gratifying, but right now Lorenzo is only thinking about Napoli.

“A great season is also key to reaching his other aim for this year: securing a place for the next European Championship with Italy,” who are in Group E with Belgium, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.

Arsene Wenger may look for a couple of signings this January to strengthen Arsenal’s Premier League challenge, but Napoli are title contenders themselves in Serie A and therefore Insigne may stay put.

The versatile attacker might not be what the Gunners need either. They have plenty of wide forward options and would be better off buying a central striker, a holding midfielder or centre-back.

PSG may be a more viable move for Insigne. The Ligue 1 champions are ready to sell Lucas Moura, according to the Metro, and also face losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic when his contract expires this summer.
