Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is hoping for a good performance and result against West Ham United on Saturday, but his afternoon didn’t start well.
As the players lined up in the tunnel at Upton Park prior to kick off, the Croatian international was offered a handshake by a young lad waiting for the Hammers to come out.
Unfortunately for Lovren, it was on false pretences as he proceeded to withdraw his hand and pull a face as the towering defender was left red faced and forced to laugh it off.
Although unlikely, whether or not it will bother him for the rest of the game remains to be seen, but there certainly wasn’t a good start to the encounter as the visitors fell behind after just 10 minutes thanks to Michail Antonio’s headed effort.
However, there was controversy as Alberto Moreno was seemingly fouled in the build-up to the goal, with referee Robert Madley failing to take action leaving the Reds feeling aggrieved.
