Louis van Gaal is trying to delete Victor Valdes from the Manchester United history books.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper has not featured in any United squad this season because of a fractious relationship with the Dutch disciplinarian which dates back to the summer, as The Telegraph reports.
But perhaps nobody knew that Van Gaal’s hatred for the Spanish World Cup winner sunk as deep as pretending that he doesn’t even exist anymore.
The Red Devils boss was asked whether he would be adding to his squad this month after his current squad limped to a tedious 1-0 FA Cup win over League One side Sheffield United on Saturday.

He replied by admonishing January signings altogether, and claiming that he didn’t make any last year – when in-fact Valdes joined on an 18-month contract.
“I don’t think it’s very wise to purchase players in January,” Van Gaal is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
“When it is possible and we think someone can give us a contribution of our level of course we shall do it, but normally we don’t do that. We didn’t also last year I believe.”
Valdes has been forbidden from training with United’s first team, and he and his wife were not invited to the United 4 Unicef charity dinner in November, according to the Manchester Evening News.
He came close to leaving Old Trafford for Turkish side Besiktas in the summer, the Manchester Evening News adds, and could find his move away this month having made just two appearances for United.
But he has actually played for the Red Devils, and the savage Van Gaal almost certainly knows that!
