Man City would accept Newcastle loan for attacker as Nigerian wonderkid Kelechi Iheanacho delivers masterclass

Manchester City are understood to be open to letting Wilfried Bony leave on loan during the ongoing January transfer market, Caught Offside understands.

According to our sources, the Citizens were so impressed with Kelechi Iheanacho’s masterful showing in the FA Cup on Saturday—the Nigerian wonderkid scored a hat-trick as the Sky Blues devastated Aston Villa 4-0—that they are looking to give the youngster a more substantial role in the first team during the title run in.

The 19-year-old also looks primed to make his bow in the Champions League, with the Citizens considering registering him for their competition squad for the knockout rounds.

However, Iheanacho’s rise will come at a cost, and Caught Offside understand that City are cooling on Bony. As a result, the Citizens may be willing to let the Ivorian forward leave before the window closes, rather than keep an unhappy player on the books.

According to our sources, Newcastle United are considering Bony as a possible solution to their striking failings before the window closes, with the Magpies having been frustrated in their hopes of signing either Loic Remy of Chelsea or West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino.
