Tottenham plotting £20m transfer swoop for international wonderkid with ‘new Drogba’ moniker

Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be lining up a £20 million move to bring FC Basel youngster Breel Embolo to White Hart Lane.

According to The Sun, Mauricio Pochettino is keen to improve his offensive options ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, and sees Embolo as the ideal man to provide support to current leading man Harry Kane.

Indeed, Pochettino is perhaps wise to seek support for Kane, with the Lilywhites fortunate that the England international largely avoided injury this season.

Kane bagged 25 of Spurs’ 68 league goals this term, 15 more than second-highest scorer Dele Alli, and there’s a danger that the North London giants become too dependent on the 22-year-old.

Therefore, Pochettino is considering Embolo prominently on his summer wishlist, although The Sun note that the Argentine coach is likely to face considerable competition for the teenager’s signature, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe understood to be considering a move for the player known as the ‘new Didier Drogba’.
