Liverpool transfer news: Uncle of star man predicts big-money teammate won’t be at Anfield next year

Daniel Sturridge‘s uncle has admitted that he doesn’t believe Christian Benteke will be at Liverpool beyond the summer.

Speaking on NBC, Sturridge’s uncle Dean—who represented the likes of Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers during a goal-laden career—has predicted that the Belgium international will move on from Anfield over the coming months.

“I can’t see Benteke staying at Liverpool,” the ex-striker began [quotes as per The Sun].

“He will get his move next season,” he continued. “He doesn’t seem to fit into what the manager wants from his strikers.”

Indeed, Benteke has been one of the Premier League’s most high-profile flops since swapping Aston Villa for Liverpool last summer.

The international attacker moved to Anfield in a £32.5 million move, but has wholly failed to repay the faith shown in him by Liverpool.

While there’s some accuracy in Sturridge’s suggestion that the hitman isn’t the kind of forward Jurgen Klopp typically looks for—and therefore that he’s been given short shrift by German coach.

However, even when Benteke has featured for the Reds, he has struggled to impress.

In 29 league outings this season—over 1520 minutes of action—the 25-year-old has managed just nine goals and it would surprise few if he were to move on this summer.
